At Gitzel Krejci Dand Peterson (“GKDP”) your privacy is very important to us.  Please read the following privacy policy carefully as it clearly describes to you how we ensure the protection of the personal information you have provided to us.  Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our Privacy Officer.

Personal information includes any factual or subjective information, recorded or not, about an identifiable individual but does not include the person's business title, or business contact information for the purpose of business communications when used or disclosed.

We are responsible for protecting any personal information you provide to our office and we have policies and procedures in place for this purpose.

 

Collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided to our office.

We collect directly from you personal information to better serve you in your financial planning, financial statements, agricultural program applications and tax needs.  Having all the necessary personal information helps the partners and staff at GKDP to provide you with the quality of service you have come to expect.  The information provided by you has been given to us with the understanding and commitment from us that this information will by used only for the purpose for which it was collected. 

We may share your personal information with our employees, contractors, consultants and other parties who require such information to assist us with managing our relationships with you and providing our products and services to you.

 

We collect, use and disclose your personal information for the following purposes:

 

Your Consent

Your knowledge and consent are required before we may collect, use or disclose any of your personal information, except in certain circumstances.  These circumstances are when your consent is not required or deemed by law.  These circumstances may include during a fraud, police or other investigation where your personal information is publicly available or permitted by law, during emergency situations, to protect the safety of a person or group, or to protect the rights and property of GKDP.

We will not collect any personal information from a third party unless we have your consent either written or oral and we will ensure that the third party is aware of your consent to our collection of your personal information.

If you are currently a client we may possess personal information about you that was collected and used prior to implementing our Privacy Policy, for which we do not have your express consent.  We will continue to use this information for the purposes listed unless you ask us to stop using the information for a specific purpose.

From time to time we me may rely on your implied consent to collect, use or disclose personal information, but only in cases where it would be reasonable to assume your consent.

You may withdraw your consent at any time upon reasonable notice to GKDP, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.  If your withdrawal of consent would impair a legal obligation your consent may not be withdrawn.  If your consent is withdrawn it may, however, affect the ability of GKDP to be able to continue to provide services to you as requested.

Should you wish to withdraw consent please contact our Privacy Office at the address or telephone number listed.  Unless we hear otherwise from you, your consent has been given to us for collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as provided for the purpose originally collected.

Your personal information is retained as long as we require it to effectively provide service to you and meet any requirements by law.

Whether the information is in electronic or paper form GKDP uses strict security systems to protect your personal information in our possession.  These are designed to protect against loss and unauthorized access, copying, use, modification or disclosure.  GKDP stores information in a secured database which can only be accessed by password.  We take great care in making sure that information that is no longer required by GKDP is disposed of in an appropriate manner or returned to you.

We do not sell any information to a third party.   We will only share information with a third party when requested either orally or written by you.

You have the right to access your personal information that is in our custody subject to any legal restrictions or rights of GKDP.  You also have the right to know of any third parties that we have shared your personal information with and under what circumstances.

Should you wish to access your personal information please make your request in writing to GKDP’s Privacy Officer advising them of which personal information you are requesting.  Please make sure that your request is as detailed as possible.

Your request will be dealt with in a timely manner and should we be unable to provide you with the information right away you will be notified of the reason.  GKDP may charge you a reasonable fee for providing access to the information but you will be given an estimated cost before the information is retrieved.  A deposit may be required depending on the nature of the information request.

If you have a complaint or concern we want to know about it.  Your business is important to us and we want to address any complaints or concerns that you may have.  If your complaint is justified, we will take whatever steps are necessary to resolve the issue. 

If we are not able to address your concern or you have other concerns please feel free to contact the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

GKDP reserves the right to modify this privacy policy at any time without notice.  The policy posted on the GKDP website www.gkdpca.com shall be deemed to be the privacy policy that is in effect.  This Privacy Policy was last updated on January, 2006.
